The Rear Garden, also known as the Wild Garden, lies behind the house. Largely preserved in its natural state, it invites guests to wander at their own pace, relax in one of the hammocks, or enjoy a picnic around the large wooden table beneath a majestic oak tree, or under the shaded pergola a little further along. Here you can discover the native vegetation of the Algarve, including olive trees, cork oaks, holm oaks and carob trees, together with the shrubs and wildflowers typical of the nearby Serra do Caldeirão: rockroses, broom, strawberry trees, mastic trees and wild orchids. The garden is a haven for birds and cicadas, whose songs reward those who pause to listen in the peaceful silence. On occasion, shy wild boar can be spotted passing through after dark. It is also a favourite resting place for the Eurasian eagle-owl before it returns to its home on Rocha da Pena, the striking limestone escarpment directly opposite the estate, within the UNESCO recognised Algarvensis Geopark.
